It is hollow in the middle, allowing it to be a protective covering for cables, tubes, hoses, and shock cord. Woven Poly-Elastic Webbing Woven polyester-elastic webbing is a multi-purpose elastic material which is thicker and stronger than regular braided and knit elastic, commonly used for suspenders and belts. Polypropylene Webbing Polypropylene webbing is similar to the nylon webbing, but it is lighter, less expensive, and easier to sew. NYLON THICKNESS COMPARISON

Below are three views of our nylon webbing that illustrate the relative thickness of each style. 

• The thickest one, the tan nylon, is our REGULAR FLAT NYLON WEBBING, which is commonly used for pet collars and leashes.  It's thickness is about 1/16". 
• The greenish nylon next to the regular flat nylon is the CORDURA NYLON, mil-spec 43668 (W-N-07). 
• Next to it is the MIL-SPEC THIN NYLON, mil-spec 17337 (W-N-06), which is comparable in thickness to the regular thin nylon webbing (W-N-02), about 1/32". 
• Finally, on the outside is the black GROSGRAIN NYLON WEBBING, mil-spec 5038 (W-N-04), which is ultra-thin and barely visible in normal view from the side.
